  • Don't use abbreviations anywhere on your invitation.  The exception is for Mr. and Mrs., but all other
words should be spelled out (i.e. Doctor, Road, Street, States, Junior, etc...)

  • Don't write "no children please" on your invitation.  If you would rather your guests not bring their
young children, address the invitation to the invited family members by name.

  • Don't forget to order extra invitations and envelopes.

  • Don't mention gifts, charities, or registries on the invitation itself.  There are some ways around this
    rule ~ see below.

  • Don't print mailing labels for your wedding invitations (or any social invitation).  See below for some
creative ways to address your wedding invitations.

  • Don't mix your beautiful invitations with a homespun wedding map or guest information card.  Either
have these professionally designed and printed, or don't include one at all.

  • Don't rush into ordering the very first thing you like.  Look around for a designer or supplier who can
provide you with the whole package:  coordinating save-the-dates, invitations, map cards, wedding
programs, place cards, menus, and thank you notes
